CAN DOGS CONTRACT CORONAVIRUSES?

Dogs can contract certain types of coronaviruses, such as the canine respiratory coronavirus, but this specific novel coronavirus, aka COVID-19, is believed to not be a threat to dogs.

The World Health Organization reported that there have been no reported cases of coronavirus in domestic animals. “At present, there is no evidence that companion animals/pets such as dogs or cats can be infected with the novel coronavirus COVID-19,” their report says.

How to protect yourself from coronavirus

1800x1200_coronavirus_1

Basic hygiene is the best thing you can do, according to a doctor of infectious diseases.
1) Wash hands frequently, avoid touching your eyes, nose & mouth.
2) Stay away from those who are sick
3) Clean surfaces
4) Get your flu shot

Getting your Flu Shot  (it’s not too late) = lowers the risk of hospitalization, & the healthier you are, the lowers your risk if you do get Covid19.  It also helps communities as you’ll likely use fewer medical resources!

You are still MUCH more likely to be exposed to flu than Coronavirus.

While CDC considers Covid19a serious situation and is taking preparedness measures, the immediate risk in the U.S. is considered low. Everyone should always take simple daily precautions to help prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses. http://www.cdc.gov/nCoV

Christmas Parties = Holiday Weight

Waiting for copies at the copy machine? Take this time to sneak in a quick leg workout or tone your tummy.  Stretching and moving your legs builds muscle strength and endurance and prevents aches and leg pains.

Build leg muscles while making copies

How to do it: While holding on to the copy machine for balance, bring your knee up and down, or after bringing your knee up, extend your leg back. Try pulsing your leg to really get your muscles burning.

Toning your tummy

• Start with feet flat on the floor.
• Stand tall at your copier.
• Hold your abdominal muscles tight.
• Extend one leg until it is level with your hip.
• Hold for ten seconds.
• Slowly lower leg.
• Repeat 15 times.
• Change legs.

These exercises are subtle enough that if you hear someone coming, you can quickly stop.
